Transnational Companies

June17

The world as we know is infested with Transnational Companies, either being in Canada or all across the globe in Japan. Our society depends so much on these companies. Many of the items we purchase are from these companies, water bottles from Nestle, burgers from McDonalds, shoes from Nike .etc.  However, to what extent are we willing to go to obtain these products? From the past couple of years labour has gone to its highest, poverty has struck a new level! However, these companies create a better economy and can give less fortunate people a job.

For years people have debated whether these companies are being fair to their workers. Factories for these companies are now moving to less developed countries. Moving to different countries has forced workers in the original country to lose their jobs. Moving to these countries allow the companies to pay the workers less and forge workers to do more labour than expected.  Many people in these countries are poor; they will take any job they get. Many of the workers work for 14 hours and get paid only a dollar. The working conditions for the factories is a mess, many workers become injured after a month. These companies target young kids or teens to be workers rather than an older person, younger people can work longer and companies can pay these kids even cheaper.

Even though these companies treat their workers with disrespect, some good always comes out. These companies boost’s the economy. The products these companies produce are highly popular; more people want to buy them. With the consumers buying these products, money flows more; people would most likely buy a branded item rather than non-branded. These companies are sending their factories to less developed countries for a reason, and that is because it’s cheaper. If these companies attain cheaper labour, consumers will get cheaper products. Less developed country residents are mainly poor, with these companies coming in it allows more jobs to be created. The pay is dreadful, but at least they have some money to put on the table.

Transnational companies are all over the world, creating many products and shipping them to many different countries. Many people take these products for granted, not knowing the troubles the other person is enduring to create these products for us. These companies are giving poor people jobs; however, the minimum wages and poor working conditions are wearing the workers down.
