Novel Reading Letter | Re-Done | The Outsiders

November27

Dear, Everyone

I know I am supposed to send this to a certain individual, but I think this novel is important enough to be everyone.  I read this book two years ago, but I have re-read this book in the past month. I have decided re read this novel because of the significance of respect and loyalty and other features that it taught me that has led me to become a better person.

This novel consists of two gangs called “Greasers, and Socs”, it’s like Bloods vs Crips, but it is different in a lot of ways. The Greasers are from the poorer part of the town, so that insists that they are obviously poor. Greasers love, respect, care, show loyalty, and everyone in the “gang” are like brothers to each other.

Introducing the “Greasers”, the Curtis brothers are the most important people of the gang. Curtis brothers; Darry Curtis (Darrel Curtis), Ponyboy Curtis, and Sodapop Curtis are the three Curtis brothers in the Greasers. The other members exist from the poorer part of the town, Johnny, Dallas, and Two-Bit Mathews. Darry Curtis, is the oldest in the gang, the most mature, the oldest of the Curtis brothers, and is hard on Ponyboy because he wants him to become something in life not like him because after the Curtis parents died he become the “father” in the house, he was smart and was the most popular student in high school. He was Pony to into something he isn’t, so he has opportunities in life. Darry works for his brothers so they have more money in the family for school. Ponyboy is the youngest in the family and the second youngest in the gang. He is smart, clever, and the most important feature to his personality is that, he is shy; he could never talk to a girl comfortably. Sodapop, is in the middle, he is the second oldest/second youngest. The whole story is about, the greasers struggling to hold on, hiding, loving, caring, respecting. This is my favorite book of all time, because of the character, Ponyboy, because he has taught me to become a nicer person, caring, and loving. Darry has taught me to become tough at times. When needed.

This books complex starts off with, Darry, he had gotten in a small argument with Pony, Pony ran off to the park with Johnny where he met Bob and his gang, the socs. They started drowning Pony, then in hesitation Johnny pulled out his knife and stabbed Bob. That’s when the story started, they escaped out of time for safety. Everyone was looking for them. One day, there they were, waiting to come back to the town, then the church got on fire with kids in it, Johnny went to help, as nice as he is, the wood fell on him and injured him deeply. Dally bought them home. Later that day there was a rumble between the Greasers and Socs, after the rumble, the blood, injured, and the death, the greasers had won; celebrating, happiness had bought them to Johnny, who had passed away when they arrived. Depression of Dally had caused him to go all out, and death had come to him also.

The reason I wrote about this was because of the love in the novel that everyone should have. That is the best characteristic any person can have. If everyone reads this book, something about this ugly world will change, and change to something, everyone would want, but never gets.

Short Story Response | A Television Drama

November22

A Television Drama is a short story written in first person narration, the protagonist is Carolee, my views on Carolee are quite different than other people, because of the fact that she didn’t try to help the criminal and might have died just for being that way. So I think that instead of ignoring it, go to it and tell the police so they can arrest the criminal for the behaviour he had come up with and so he can heal faster and not being in the risk of death.  This story had shown me a picture in my mind of the characters and the events. The author did a brilliant job of describing the event and the setting which describes the imagery and symbolism. Carolee the protagonist had described how many people were outside, the sirens, the sound and the feeling she had. That really had my imaginary go wild, and made me think more than I would at other times. It seemed as if I was in the shoes of Carolee, just because of the diction author described. In every part I was seeing something in my head that the author was showing. Imagery, symbolism, and diction was the biggest factor in the leading of this story to make it good and interesting.

My Soccer History

November3

As many people know me, they will also know my favorite sport is soccer. I play it, but i don’t watch it, because there is no point in watching if your not doing. I started playing soccer when i was four or five years old, U-6, I used to play with my friends from school also. After school me and my friends from my new school played and got better and better. Then I got really good, and I was still playing soccer until last year I quit. I think i quit playing because I was to lazy and focused on school. To the point, I tried out for soccer (PSA, Eastside, Marlborough) and i made it to tier 2 for all of my years. I really wanted to make it in tier 1 but it was to hard and the guys were way bigger than me. But my parents kept pushing me and encouraging me so once, in grade 7 I made it in tier 3. It was so hard that i felt like quitting. But i didn’t, I never quit/surrender. I never tried out for my soccer team at my school, because i didn’t have the time and we had the worst team ever. All my friends that are good never tried out, in grade 7 I did and I made it but I dropped out because we were the worst team. We came in last, my coach was bad, the players were worst, and the worst was the best people didn’t try out because they were to lazy. The funniest memory i remember was when me and my friend were playing against each other. So, I was on a break away, I was so happy that i was about to score, then I see a little kid come slide and trip me, I was so mad. I got a free kick, but then my friend comes back and gets in the way. He wasn’t supposed to but he did. I got so mad i tripped him and ran off, and my parents were laughing and were mad in the same odd way. Obviously me and him are still friends but he came up to me to apologize and I did the same. We became best friends. But now we really don’t talk. In the future i really don’t think I’m going to do any more soccer, be apart of a soccer team or take any action in being apart of it.

Respect

October8

Respect

I will respect my family

I will respect my teachers

I will respect my friends

I will respect you

I will respect everyone, because it’s free

Respect Me

Don’t drag me down

Pull me up

To respect me, is to honour me

To respect me, listen to me

To respect me, stand by me when everything is unattainable

Why not respect?

Is it because you’re scared?

Or is it because you don’t like him or she?

It doesn’t matter

You show respect it will return
